Anybody know exactly what a OB # is? Is it stamped on the motor somewhere? Is there a second tag somewhere on the motor?

How do I find out the OB # for my motor?

1967 Chrysler 35 HP
Model # 35742
Serial # 1147

Thank you for any help!

Re: Ob #????????????

There is a tag at the front of the motor usually inside on the housing.
They didn't mark the motor just the housing. Those #s are the only thing you need to order parts or what ever you need to do to it.J

Re: Ob #????????????

Thanks jerry, but I want to get a hold a repair maual that I saw a thread about. The man is insistant on the fact that, in order for him to send a link to you about where to find a manual online, he wants you to send him your OB#.....NOT Model Number. Since I'm new to this whole boating thing, I haven't got a clue what he's talking about. Apparently an OB# is some kind of production number.
I know the tag you're speaking of, and you're right, it's on the inside of the housing. But, all that's stamped on it is the model and the serial numbers.

Oh well........keep trying I guess.

Thanks again jerry!!

Re: Ob #????????????

I got him all sorted out.

The OB number he's referring to is the OB number of the Chrysler Outboard Service manual.

Check your PM. Details inside.

Hi Buzz, is there a formula to match up the model# to the OB#?

Re: Ob #????????????

Nope no formula

I have the page saved on my computer.
But if you are looking for your OB number you can go here.
http://www.hurrikain.com/Chrysler-manuals-outboards.htm

Look up the Chrysler Horsepower and year. You'll see the OB number there.

Just to remind everyone.. The OB number doesn't do anything for your Chrysler engine. It's not for parts, machine work or factory number. The OB number is simply the Service manual for your particular Chrysler outboard.
