My dad, husband and I stumbled across a 1985 Wellcraft 190 American that had been parked for four years, covered. We've examined this baby to the best of our knowledge and there's no rot in the floors, cushions are dirty but solid with the exception of the back two needing new plywood, floor is great and solid compartments are dry engine will turn over but won't start everything looks like it's giving us a shot at possibly owning a decent starter boat. BUT, there's no manuals, or books with it and we're new to the boating experience. I've boated a few times and know a few things about boats, but not nearly enuf to even call myself a rookie boater. The engine says 170 Mercruiser on it, it's an 8 passenger I/O board with trailer. Can anyone give me any insight they possibly know about this boat and what would be the best place to look for manuals or service guides on this motor? We don't want to do anything with the boat before we know that the motor will run. My husband and my dad are great with engines but are leary of what this motor is and where to find parts needed to begin a tune up. Any help will be greatly appreciated, as if the motor gets up and running, we'll need a speedometer, a new cover and new swim platform. I greatly appreciate any help! Thanks!;)

Get the serial numbers off the engine and outdrive and ask your questions in the Mercruiser I/O forum. They can probablypoint you to a download for the manuals too. Take a look at the stickies at the top of the I/O forum for info on troublshooting and such.

Good luck.
