Ok. New project. 1998 225 Ocean pro Not injected.

Basic issue:
Check engine alarm goes on and off.
Check engine light will stay on for a while and then go off and on again.

It all started when the aux gas tank was run dry.
Filters have been replaced, hoses cleared, additive added, carb bowls drained, plugs cleaned, and a cracked spark plug, not sure how that happened, replaced too.

Start boat at dock and alarm and light go on, alarm stops light stays on then off.
Pull out of slip alarm and light go on, alarm stops light stays on. If the throttle is wiggled it will go off.
Ran boat 20 minutes plus it stops all together for some time.
After resetting a few drifts the scenario starts again.
Ran boat 20 minutes plus back to the canal and it stops until docking.

Fuel restriction or the sensor. Loose/dirty wire connections

you probably have the tank pick up tube clogged or the anti-siphon valve. hook up a portable tank to it and see if it goes away.If it does then that is probably your problem.

I ran the engine on an external tank. No change. Where is the sensor so I can check the wires and clean the sensor? Other than the light and intermittent alarm she runs great.

I have family in Panama city, not sure exactly where, through marrage. Do you know a Jim Colton? He was a carpenter who was a stair well builder/ designer.

The "Check Engine" alarm is a fuel restriction. There is a vacuum sensor on the fuel line. It is located on the block, near the OMS Pump.
Check and clean the main strainer under the airbox. Make sure all boat-mounted filters are not clogged. Check the antisiphon valve and filter (if equipped). Check the fuel tank vent for clogs.

I will try to trouble shoot using that info, CHris1956, and report back in a few days.
Thank you.
