I will be checking out two '96 Ocean Runner 200's this afternoon and was wondering what a healthy compression number would be on these engines. I know uniformity is critical, but I'm wondering what spec would be so I have an idea of the health of these engines. Thanks for any input.

i like to see 100 + but all guages are different. so there is no set standard. the 10% rule is more important.

I'll defer to others who might know better than me, but I've been told that the big V6's show less than 100 from the factory with between 90 and 100 being normal for a used, healthy engine.

I know my old 76 reads 105 across all 6 at operating temp.

Don't get hung up on numbers. As long as they're within 15 lbs of each other it's OK. There are several heads for those motors so if one bank is different just keep that in mind, it may just have a different head.
