octane atleast 89 !

what octane gas do you use in your engine? mid grade atleast with the older engine's ! 87 is p ss water! my 2 cents........

regular (that's 92 here in Australia)<br /><br />hmmm, think this post could be a troll... <br /><br />I mean, you want to know what fuel people use, but add the statement of "midgrade in older engines" That bit isn't a question, it's a pot stirrer.

Been running 87 in my 84' 50 horse Johnny and 86 90 horse Rude for the past 5 years. Tried 89 once or twice....didn't make any difference I could see.

1960 big twin...tried 89, doesn't run any better than 86.

Do a search and you will see it is recommended to use 87 octane. The higher octane fuels have additives that 2 stroke outboard don't like too much.
