I have a Yamaha 9.9 Four Stroke on my sailboat. Does anyone know if I can get an extra long extension on the lower unit to keep the cavitation to a minimum or stop it altogether. It is bad when someone is on the bow or when motoring in rough water.

no the shaft is completly the same length, itwould cost too much!! to buy a new lower shaft and leg of the 20 inch size!, try a pair of duro fins and try lowering it lower :)

how is the motor mounted? if it is on an extendable mount, then maybe you can lower the mount on the stern. or even change the mount, as some have more throw than others. I have seen 12 and 14 inches advertised. an extra 2 inches makes a big difference ...just ask your wife.......
