Odor of Gas...Is this "Normal?"

Every time I put my boat back into my garage after running it, I smell gas for a few days around the engine. A couple of buddies told me this is to be expected with a carburetor outboard. However over the years I have had three other carburetor outboards that did not do this.

FYI, I use a transom saver so the engine is always tilted up some.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

My guess is you are talking about the Yamaha 150 in your signature.

Regardless of what motor you are speaking of, pull the cowling and silencer and tilt the motor up like you normally store it. See if any fuel runs or drips out of the carbs and where it comes from.
The bowls are vented to atmosphere so it could come out the vents or the carb throats themselves.
Maybe the floats are set too high or it could be normal.
Look for other leaks while you are at it just to be sure (Filter, pumps, and all lines)
