OEM exhaust manifold vs. aftermarket

What's the general concensus of using aftermarket exhaust manifold systems (i.e. Osco) instead of OEM (i.e. Mercruiser), as far as cost & availability being a factor? I've noticed that on the particular application I have in mind, the 'generic' Osco manifolds have the risers in the center while the OEM Mercriser manifolds have the risers at the back. Other than the modification(s) required to make the riser location change, are there any other concerns?

Other than the dramatic cost difference in both I would say there are only minor differences that you will not notice. They are all going to work fine. I put Barr manis and risers on my boat last year and they work perfectly.

I just bought an Osco exhaust manifold and can see no real difference. But I haven't had the experience some of these guys may have had.

I use OEM Volvo. The extra cost is offset by the increase in quality.

'grooves, The newer MerCruiser exhaust manifolds are center riser like the Osco. I am not sure how old your mannys are since my '88 merCruiser came with factory center rise manifolds.....

I replaced with Osco and they worked just fine.
