My off button recently has been acting funny. It will not stop the motor at times, at other times it will only make it half way stop, and few times it will stop the motor as it should. What is the problem? It just started doing this last time I took the boat out.
Thanks!!!

I beleive your off-button has copper contacts inside. It's possible that the contacts have some corrosion on them and your sporadic operation is due to this. Gently try taking the rubber boot off the switch and check the innards...
- Scott

Oh yea... I should have thought of that, pesky copper. Thanks for the reply, I'll try cleaning it up tonight. By the way, do you know anything about changing the "pawl washers?" They are hitting the flywheel at wide open throttle and I have been told that I need to change these before they become a problem.

The pawl washers are small spring-steel washers that put tension on the pawls. If the pawl washers are worn or not present, the pawls will rattle about. The problem can also come from the rotating plate that guides all three pawls outwards. It's a steel plate with bent-over tangs that push the pawls outwards. These tangs wear over time with use. Not much you can do but replace the plate or have someone weld a goober of steel on the tips and grind it back down...
- Scott
