Oh boy... another oil question.. hey LD???

I saw an advertisement for Royal Purple synthetic oil today. I seem to remember from my younger days that I used to see Triton Purple Oil around. I haven't heard about purple oil in years until today. Is their synthetic on a par with Mobil or Amsoil? I wonder how long it stays purple in the engine before it turns dark? Also what's the skinny on Mann oil filters?

I can not remember but one of the old 50:1 oils was purple. I think the original intent was to identify its purpose, just like aircraft fuels.

Royal Purple synthetic is a good oil in my opinion, i'm not an authority on oils by any means but i changed from Mobile 1 synthetic about six months ago and i have not seen nor felt any differences, my reason for changing was simply economics.

Royal Purple has been around a long time, heavily promoted in the racing world, along with Redline and Amsoil. It's a good synthetic. Never heard of Mann.

I changed from Moblie 1 synthetic 5W 30 to Royal Purple synthetic 5W 30 .<br /><br />Like i said it that decision was made because of the cost, When i bought the Royal Purple i got it at a very good price, no science was involved there, its been about six months ago and i have not noticed any change in my vehicle's operational behaviour, so i'm happy with that

Its a good stable oil, normally good for 7,500 miles or more in a solid engine.
