So, during the whole, "Ouch that's hot" thread, Frank mentioned that my motor
is the "older style" that has the only water coming from the plastic tube,
etc. etc.
My question now, is; is it still ok to do the "telltale install"? I know something
is slightly amiss as I've now acquired 2 50hp power heads and neither of
them have a flat screw in plug. Both have the same plug which looks to be
aluminum and is a square plug?
I'm basically ready to hit the water with this puppy, but I'd like to have the
telltale installed before I do so (It stinks breaking down in the Gulf of Mexico,
you can't trust that somebody will drive by). Do I need to do something
different than what's posted in the sticky?

Ummmm.....it's perfectly all right if someone besides Frank or Jerry answers
this question...lol

Did you ever consider putting in a brass or heat resistant plastic TEE in the clear line? They are available from Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Etc. plumbing supply depts. for less than 2 bucks. 3/8 barbed fitting.

No fuss to install, just cut the tube, shorten it a bit and press in the TEE, secure with electrical zip ties. Either get a TEE with a smaller leg or put a restriction in the pisser leg so you don't blow out too much water.

Do what Frank says and then contact Tow Boat US. It's like 150$ and will be worth it if they come and get you 1 time. 800 4 SEATOW.J

Re: Oh, Frank or Jerry, I need youuuuu.

Thank you both. You know, that's what the mechanic said too was to put in a
"Tee" in the clear line. Thanks for confirming that and now I'll actually do it!
I didn't have a "warm & fuzzy" with him over a separate issue so I wanted to
hear one of you guys say it.

And, Jerry, I've got plans to join Sea Tow this week before I head out. I may
run all my gas out just to get towed so I'll feel better about the cost...lol
Just kidding, I've heard all the $600.00 tow horror stories. You've only got to
hear that once to know that $149.00 (or whatever) a year is pretty cheap!
