I took my 1974 Evinrude 9.9 out yesterday it trolled all day long. After our day we reeled up and I cranked the throttle to full bore, normally my 12' aluminum should get up and go. Nope just half power I held it that way for a few minutess hoping that it was the plugs loaded with soot and burn off. I got home and pulled a plug and yup sooty and fluffy. I figure a plug change but it what is more troubling is in the pics never seen this before.

jmo, but i wouldnt be to concerned about what is shown in the pics, quite normal for an engine running on one cyl. its just all the unburnt fuel/oil from the dead cyl. hopefully its just a bad plug, but a coil isnt a bad deal either.

That looks like a whole lot of unburnt fuel/oil mix. Is it coming out the exhaust ports or from under the engine cover, it is hard to tell in the pic where it originates from.
