Working on my out drive on the stand, prepping every thing for U-joint surgery. Pop it out of gear and turn the input shaft over by hand and I'm greeted by a horrible screeching noise 
Visions of my work and cost going up by a factor of 10 run thru my head as I drain the oil (clean with no water), run a quick pressure check (holds presser fine). One more quick twist of the imput with my head next to the drive pinpoints the area the noise is emanating from, right at the water pump. Dry impeller will squeak a bit when slowly turned...
