Oh Noes....another Fish Finder post!!

Instead of searching through 1000's of similar posts, I'll make my own.

What I am looking for is a decent FF'er that works well while driving the boat as well as works well in shallow waters. (I rarely see 20+ feet deep in our local lakes)

Price is indeed a factor as well.

I had my eye on the Eagle Fishmark 320. I've been playing with their demo & really like it, but am unsure of it's performance while driving the boat.

Any comments or suggestions? I'd like to stay away from H-Bird as I have 2 of their units already & am so/so pleased with them.

Properly installed it will work at speeds well above 50 MPH. Improperly installed it won't. As for shallow water, if you are in less than 5 feet you are better off looking over the side of the boat regardless what locator you have.

The Humminbird 565 is a good graph to look at too. Check out Cabelas web site for reviews on these products. Iboats is a great place to shop for electronics but either Bass pro or Cabelas have reviews on these products. Some of the newer Eagle/ Lowrance have issues of late. I`d take a hard look at Humminbird. Transducer readings at speed shouldn`t be a problem if properly installed.
In fact the 565 Bird has a duel frequency transduer that allows the unit to cast a bigger circle or cone of detection on bottom so this alone would enhance its shallow water abilities

I have the HumminBird 565 and am very happy with it. It works great at slow speeds and is very capable of keeping up with my boats 42mph top speed in 65 feet of water. As Silvertip mentioned above installation is of utmost importance for performance at any speed.
