Ohio River vs. Brookville Lake

Looking at docking our boat at Brookville Lake next year instead of the Ohio River. Costs about $1k more, but the season is one month longer and it'll be wetslipped instead of stored out of water, but exposed to elements.

The river just gets too darn choppy on the weekends for my 17.5' boat. Too many times have i hit some bad wake or windy conditions to have my boat jumping out of the water and slamming back down. Kinda scares a newbie like myself. Also like to anchor at times and enjoy peace and quiet. I'm sure the lake can get crowded at times, but there's probably more quiet coves and nooks vs. the river where there is nowhere to get out of the way.

Anyways, any opinions on either of these two locations?

I boat Brookville often...it gets choppy and busy on weekends but there are coves and the North end of the lake is all NO WAKE ...all in all a great lake with the beaches , restaurant , and marinas.....boat the OHIO around Ripley a few times a year but prefer lake boating......my two cents , Dave.

I agree..lake boating is much nicer...but if your ever feel the need for speed..well, the river allows you to open her up. Happy boating.
