update. I opened the vent on the resivoir under the cowl and the oil did overflow, so I know it is flowing, but the oil alarm still goes off.

What gauges do you have - SmartCraft? Is there a warning alarm on the screen telling you where the problem is - the engine reservoir or the off board tank? The offboard tank has two sender wires attached to one of the fill lids - check these are attached correctly and that one is grounded to a negative properly.

If the on engine tank is full you probably don't have a problem with supplyt but the sender unit within the tank is shot so you will need to replace the tank as a whole unit. I dont believe you can get the sender seperately. Just a case of unplugging the sender wires, removing the 3 bolts and plugging the oil lines. Put the new tank on fill it up and make sure you have no air bloking flow. If you run the engine up once its full but leave the vent plug slightly cracked open it should fill completely to the top and you can close it then.

Hope this helps

Thanks Paul, that does help. I found the manual online for the smart craft (did not get one when I had the motor installed) the symbols that come up are for the oil pump fault or low oil pressure. The engine tank did fill up all the way so doesn't that mean the oil pump is working?
