I have a brand new Yamaha V6 150 FETO outboard.

In the manual it clearly states a required 50:1 Gasoline to Oil ratio for the first 10 hours of breaking in period.

I am now in my 11th hour and the manual states running normal gasoline from then on.

However, I was told by other boaters and other mechanics that it won't hurt to always have a mixture of some type. Maybe half of what was required (so 25 : 1 ) ?

Are they making any sense ? Do you guys do this or not ?

What are the advantages / disadvantages ?

25:1 is twice as much oil as 50:1.

Once past break in, your engine does not need any more oil than what is being injected by the oil injection system. Actaully, 50:1 is rather rich by todays standards.

Running additional oil will only foul spark plugs.

Yamaha makes some good additives that come highly recommended. They primarily keep the carbon out and the rings free.

Your oil injection system automatically varies the oil mix depending on engine rpm. Use straight gasoline and an occasional addition of Yamaha ring-free. Do not use gas with ethanol that is more than 60 days old without a stabilizer.
