So I have a 1993 Bayliner with a 4.3 mercruiser.SER#0F066078 I am changing the oil and I am not getting a reading on the dipstick. I called bayliner and everything that I have searched online says it should take 4.5 quarts. I have 6qts in and its only just below the ADD mark. I know it can't take more then that the only thing I can think is the dipstick is wrong. I have a part number on the dipstick it reads 41092-1. Can anybody give me some input here?
Thanks,
Jacob

Agree, manual 18 shows 4.5 quarts, and note to check dip stick. Give it some time, and if it takes quite a while to drain down, then may want to pull the valve covers and clean return ports

Edit: your bow isn't up high is it?

I sort of feel like a dumb ass! Now 4 hours later I pull the dipstick and it is over full of course. I'll take some out. Thanks for the information.

Definitely pull the valve covers and clean the oil return ports.
