I have a 1996 Monterrey 230 explorer deck boat with a 4.3lGS 6cyl. chevy engine. Yesterday I warmed up the engine for 15 min. and then started to extract the oil using a oil extraction pump. rated at 1 liter per min. At 45 min, I only extracted about 1 quart with about 3.5 quarts left to go. Is there a secret way to get remaining oil out?

You continuously pumped the hand pump for 45 minutes? Good exercise but not right. What kind of pump do you have... does the hose go down the dips tick tube or does it screw on to the dipstick tube? Are you reading oil on the dipstick now? Down a quart you should still see it on the stick.

no to hand pump lol, using a 12 volt electric pump. Yes it goes down dip stick tube. No oil on dip stick.

Well, hopefully you weren't down 3 quarts when you started? I'm not sure what the problem is unless there is no oil in it or the hose isn't long enough to get to the bottom of the pan.

Does your disptick tube have the hose threads on the outside, like this:

If so, use that adapter rather then snaking an extraction tube down the dipstick tube. The suction will pull all the oil out. If this doesn't work, your pump has issues.

Agree with Spoilsofwar. The tubes you put down the dipstick are too thin. Your dipstick tube goes down to the drain plug so using the garden hose fitting at the top of the dipstick tube is the best way of doing it.

Yes I have those threads!! Are those a pipe thread? I don't have a adaptor that fits that.

Garden hose fitting. Buy a pump that comes with that fitting or make something that adapts to your pump. Have a link or picture to what pump you are using?

You'll need an adapter to use your pump if you want to use the disptick tube threads (and you should). It looks like this:

Personally, I greatly prefer the manual vacuum pumps to electric. I would get yourself one like this and stop messing around with an electric pump:

But that said, there's no reason you can't use yours if you source the proper adapter.
