So I was going to change my oil but the device that I have won’t suck the oil out of the pan. Is there a kit that you can buy that has the right size tubing to be able to put it down the dipstick tube and drain the oil out? I do not want to pay someone I can do myself. What do you guys do when changing your oil?
thanks.

This is a Topsider vacuum pump & I rigged up this garden hose adapter that threads onto the dipstick tube. It works much faster than sliding the thin tube down the dipstick tube. Just make sure that there is a gasket in the garden hose adapter just like for a water hose. That helps maintain the vacuum. Also the engine oil must be warmed up. Using this it pumps out all the oil in about 5 min.

Ayuh,..... Me too,......
But,... Without the sucker tank hooked to that hose, it takes F o r e v e r to just drain it into a catch-can,.....
Hours,..... hot oil or cold oil, Hours,.....

Thank you for all the advice so far. I found a unit on Amazon that should arrive tomorrow. I don’t have a drain plug on the engine so I can’t connect anything to that. And the manual says to drain it through the dipstick tub but of course I have to come up with a way that will work.

I have the same pump transfer unit that ayuh showed..... harbor freight sells them...fyi
Also they have an alternate adapter kit if needed for different applications.
It works quite well once it gets going....there are 2 options to push or pull the fluid.

I don't want hijack this thread, but I use that very same Topsider and it works very well.
Your idea of adding that threaded hose connection looks like a great improvement to an already great tool.
Thanks!

I have used it to:
change oil in the inboard
make auto trans fluid changes less messy if there is no drain plug on the pan
make 4x4 differential oil changes less messy same thing (we have 3 Jeeps in the family)
I like the Topsider because it all metal and no plastic to break really.
definitely add the threaded adapter it will speed up your oil changes significantly.

Awesome! I will be using your idea with my Topsider!

Got the oil changed the other day, the one I found on amazon worked great and made the process so easy. Went with Amsoil 25w 40 for my boat. Much better than the Straight 40 wt Wolfs Head oil that was in there that the previous owner used.
