I took my boat out Sunday. Oil pressure was around 60 psi. As I drove around I noticed the oil pressure had dropped to 50,then 40 ect.. The engine was running fine. After being on the lake for around 3 hours running time. I loaded up and went home. the bilge area has oil that I thought was leaking from a oil cooler, I checked the engine oil and nothing was on the dipstick. I had to add 3 quarts to get a reading on the dipstick.....where the heck is my oil going?? This is a remanufactured 4.3L longblock with only anout 6 or 7 hours on it.

A reman motor may burn oil on break-in. even the service manuals warns to check for oil frequently.

However 3 qts over the first 6 hours may be high. did you run it for a few minutes and then double check the amount of oil. The capacity consumed by the remote oil filters (if you have it) and other bits could have dropped you 1+ quarts, plus 1/2 - 1 gone to the seals, and another 1+ leaking, might make sense.

Don't run for more than 1 hour without checking the oil on breakin for the first 20 hours.

If you have an engine oil cooler you could pressure test it. An internal leak would let the engine oil into the cooling system and right out the back of the boat with the raw water.
