I have a rebuilt 350 chevrolet engine that I am putting back in my 21 foot seaswirl sable. Does anyone have an opinion whether I should use the bypass adaptor or eplace with a non-bypass filter adaptor?

I was told forget about the by pass. For the most part they are obsolete and can cause much more harm than good. e.g. the spring used in the by pass is somewhat weak and on a cold startup, when pressure is high, many times the by pass will open -- allowing unfiltered oil to circulate thru your engine!!

that happens anyways. Your filter element has a cold oil bypass built into it.
