I have a 2018 60HP 4 stroke and need help with filter. The OE part # is 35-8M0162829. There was an update quite a while back, and the old number is 8M0065104.
After looking at a couple filters, new in the box, they are quite different (see pic below). Visually the base plate and flow holes. Seems the quality is lacking. I don't mind paying the premium for the OEM filter ($21) but then want a premium product.
I was going to get a jobber filter (like Wix 57356) but it's impossible to get specs on the Merc filter to compare, flow rate, relief valve setting, etc.
The Merc help line has been NO help and have no explanation on the different looking filters. They say if the part number is right and it threads on, it will work fine.
Am I being too picky? What do you use?
