Just got my boat back from marina, winterizing done as well as some other repairs.I noticed the oil filter they used this time is a Fram .I thought they were only used in cars not for marine application.Could this be a problem? Thanks.
s
some people here hate fram i use them and like them

you have to read the number and be sure it is the correct interchange for your motor

tommays
I just can't imagine a problem using a 'car' oil filter. Boats normally have so few hours put on them compared to a similar engine used in a auto.

The oil pressure may or may not be higher, but surely not enough to blow it's seals. I've used car, or the deeper/longer truck version offered for the same engine forever and never had a problem with one.
Marine oil filters generally have a thicker metal shell and more coats of paint, for corrosion resistance. The auto filter should be fine as long as you service the engine every 100 hrs or once a season, whichever is first. Also keep your bilge dry to keep the filter from rusting through.
