I purchase an Oil Filter from a Mercury dealer earlier this summer. The dealer said there was a serial number break for the correct part but gave me the one he felt worked for my motor. The Fram application chart say's I should use Mercury Filter number 35-822626Q03 the one I purchased is a 35-822626K03. That online look up shows no serial number break one filter for all. Do you suppose this is a part number change only and basically the same filter or do you suppose I got the wrong part? The dealer is over an hour away. If I don't get a answer I'll call but I thought maybe someone might know. Anyone know a online Mercury lookup for oil filters.

Re: Oil Filters

You might post the SN of your engine so we know what you have, we can then go from there. There are different filters used by Merc, but without knowing what you have it's impossible to answer your question accurately.

Re: Oil Filters

The numbers with"K" in it are genuine mercury part numbers, the ones with "Q"
are quicksilver brands. Really no difference.

Re: Oil Filters

Huh... thats odd as the 822626K03 fits totally different motor, hp and serial # range than the 822626Q03

The serial number break looked like this at one time, Part number 822626Q1 FILTER, Oil SN# USA-0T800999/BEL-0P267999 & Below.

Part number 822626Q03 FILTER ASSEMBLY, Oil SN# USA-0T801000/BEL-0P268000 & Up.

But over time, part number 822626Q1 has Superseded to part number 822626Q03, And when I look up part number 822626Q03 in the mercury parts crossover reference sheet it shows part number 822626K03 to be a match, So your good to go with your "K" number.;)

The only differents between the two part numbers should be the color of the oil filter, "Q" = white, "K" = black.

Here's a link to your engine parts for you.

Re: Oil Filters

Thanks Boat Tech greatly appreciated. The filter currently installed on the motor is a white filter with no name. The number is PH-2876 does this filter cross over to the Mercury number or has someone mismatched something.

Sorry, But the list I was looking at does not cross with aftermarket brands, So i'm not to sure.

The PH- #'s is normally a frame oil filter though.

Good luck with it.:)
