1987 4.3L 205
I am having an issue with the oil flow through my 4.3l. The issues is that there is no oil flow to the top of the engine via the push rods while the engine is runing, but i am keeping proper oil preasure. 45-50psi
Now if I run the oil pump with the drill and the remains of a hacked dirtibuter turned priming tool i get flow through the push rods. I run the drill get flow though some of the pushrods, give engine 1/4 turn get flow through other push rods.
I know that the pump is pushing oil because you can hear the oil running back to pan once engine is off, and it works with the drill.
The oil is clean and is 30 weight.
I was told that a bad pressure sending unit could cause this...dosnt sound right to me but thought i would ask you guys and see if it tru. I dont have a hole lot of first hand knowledge on this motor.
I have been trying to find an oil flow diagram for the engine but the best i have come up with is one for a newer vorteck engine that is kinda hard to figure out.
The other question i have is concerning the check valve balls for the thermistat houseing. I cant find any spec on them and wont to know how tight they should be seated, I know it to loose the water coming into the engine will just blow right back out the ball valve and be throw over board, but I dont want to be over tight and cause a preasure issue in the coolant system.
Thanks!
