Guys, some sort of fluid is leaking from my outboard, since it can't be oil (2001 90 HP v4 2 stroke) I can't figure out what it is or where it might be coming from...I've attached a picture

if it is not oil don't worry about it… any other symptoms like poor engine performance ?

Guys, sorry for going silent on this. Had computer issues, etc, etc.

I only say its not oil b/c its a 2 stoke, it obviously could be gear oil.
The engine seems to be running fine otherwise. I was out on the lake today and did notice a small oily sheen coming from the engine. Given the location of the leak, got any ideas?

And why do you say it can't be oil because it is a 2 stroke.----Is there not an oil line going into this engine to an automatic mixing unit.------Hurry , hurry to shop and have this checked out !!----Lack of oil or a complete failure of a hose could spoil your day out on the water !

very likely unburned gas/2-cycle mix -- would smell like gas. Not sure what you have there, but don't run without a 50:1 mix (good idea to use a portable tank while testing).

The boat uses premix. (previous owner removed the VBRO system)
