This I know is a stupid question but I just bought a pontoon with a 4 stroke Mercury 90HP and the guys said it doesn't use oil???? I cannot find anywhere on the boat that has an oil place. Does it not need oil???

Welcome aboard.

Of course it uses oil. The motor is like the motor in your car or truck with oil in the crankcase.

Either you or the seller misunderstood your question by thinking of 2 stroke motors with oil mixed in the gas or an oil tank to supply oil to fuel and or bearings.

Moving this to the Mercury outboard section.

Take the cowling off and look for the dipstick.
It might be yellow.
You should get some an owners manual so you know what kind of oil and how to do everyday service.
