87 Johnson20hp,i have always had a little oil/fuel that collects inside the engine compartment just under the carbs.I have replaced all the zip ties on the fuel lines and manual primer lines. It seems to always be present inside the carb throat and around the bottom of the vertical tube that is perpindicular to the throttle butterfly. Is this normal for a little oil to collect there? The carb was rebuilt last yr,but the furel lines weren't changed.

If it is just a small amount I wouldn't worry about it. Just a drop or two each day will end up giving you the coating of sludge in the bottom. If it is puddling you need to find the leak. Wipe it all out with a good shop rag before you go out next and check it several times during the day and see if you can determine where the seepage is coming from.

Fireman57 gives good advise, the leak could be nothing that will be bad. It could be comming from flooding the carb, bad line, small leak in gasket etc...I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets out of hand but as long as everything is running good and the leak is just a drop a day then just keep an eye on it.
