i have been chasing a check motor light for so time. i noticed oil and gas mix in the in line filter twice now during the trouble shooting. is there a check valve that could be restricting the fuel flow ,causing the check engine light to come on and also allow mix out of the vro? 2000 johnson 200hp.

Check Engine warning is controlled by the vacuum sensor on the gasoline line. I do not know if it could cause gas/oil mix to leak past check valves in OMS pump, but you should fix restriction in gas line. It is likely dirty filter or antisiphon valve.

Does the light just come "on" with no effect to engine performance? Are you getting a horn also?

checked for restrictions,changed filters,lines,bulb.
the motor continues to run fine most of the time, but it will partially cut out,run rough on occassion.
