oil gas mix

Have twin 135 mercs is it possible to bypass the oil enjection system and run a 50 to 1 oil gas mix? If so how and what do I get rid?

What year are these engines, I wouldnt do it unless they are of the old style with the plastic gear on the crankshaft. You will be less than happy with the low speed performance.

They are 91's Lubedude. I would leave it alone, as they are very reliable. If you do have the plastic gear, replace it with the newer style gear and you will be good to go. That was the ONLY problem with them..

The gear is on the crank and the engine has to be torn apart so I understand, but the 91 should be fine!

let me make sure I understand this correctly....I have to take the motor apart and replace a gear with the newer type...?... better to do this than run mix in tank..?

Having a reliable oil injection system is ALLWAYS better than mixing. Don't ask how I know...

No, we are not telling you to take the engine apart and change the gear, we are telling you to leave it alone. I only said that because you cant change the gear with out doing this, but you do not need to! When the older ones failed, that was the weak link.

seems the oil tank cap was loose. the beeping has stopped for now.
