Noticed this oil stain running down the leg of my motor after a few hours romping around the lake.

There's a screw missing (highlighted by the red box on the right side).

I assume that is part of the cause, but I'm wondering if this indicates any other problem and what I should do (besides replace and tighten the screws).

Also, I noticed the grease fitting (inside the left red box). I'm wondering how to fill it properly (without blowing out a seal, like I've done to a car fitting before) and also if there are any other fittings.

Thanks!

Not to worry about blowing a seal ... you should find at least three more fittings which require waterproof marine grease.

The black crud is exhaust/unburned oil/fuel and appears to be leaking from the adapter gasket which is on the bottom of the powerhead and seals spent cooling water and exhaust to the midsection and then either thru the prop or exhaust outlet. Replacing the missing fastener and tightening all the adapter screws to the required torque spec may stop the leakage, although the gasket may be compromised now.

ok, thanks, i've been looking through a manual but I can't see where it shows them. I guess i'll just go over every inch. Probably wise to check every screw anyway.

I guess the stuff leaking out is just what has collected in the pan below the cowl. She'll get cleaned and painted this winter (since it is my first season w/ her) and maybe I won't see it again after that...but I hope somebody tells me if I should be more concerned:confused:
