oil in bilge

i have a 3.0 merc. and have a milky white oil/water mix in the bilge. outdrive oil is full engine oil is full trim oil is full. could this be gas.

No, it wouldn't be gas. Clean every thing up and keep an eye on it while you are running. To have milky oil, it must be mixed in with the oil a lot. With a Merc outdrive, you would have a green milk, with engine oil or trim pump oil you would have white milk. Trim tabs would be pink milk.<br />Any of those items have milky oil in them???? Look in the oil fill hole in the valve cover of the engine.

If all internal oils check out ok then it is probably a messy oil change or two.Is the boat new to you??The oil filter is tough to get at on many motors and someone in a hurry or just not careful will spill some oil from the filter which will eventually turn white in the bilge.Get some heavy duty bilge cleaner and a forceful garden hose and clean it up.Then you can add some dish detergent to the bilge on a steady basis to keep any spilled oil in check.Charlie
