Oil in Gas

I have a 2007 Suzuki DF175 4 stroke with only about 60 hours on it. I have had an ongoing fuel problem for the past month. The motor starts fine and then begins to idle roughly and eventually stalls sending smoke out of the exhaust. I had a mechanic look at it and he drained the fuel out of the head and it looked like 2 stroke fuel that has been mixed with gas. He suspected bad fuel so I treated the fuel, changed fuel water seperator and added fresh new fuel. The boat ran great that weekend. The boat sat for two weeks and when I tried to go out yesterday I encountered the same problem. Drained the gas in the motor and it was black. However, the fuel in the bowl of the fuel water seperator was clear and the fuel in the bowl of the motor (at the rear of the motor) was clear. I wondering if oil is somehow leaking into the fuel that's in the head when the motor is tilted out of the water. The tilt adjustment is the most it will go to get my motor all the way out of the water.

Anyone have any similiar problems such as this?

Re: Oil in Gas

Hi,

Did you ever get a sensible answer to this problem? I am currently experiencing the same with a 2007 DF175. It has run perfectly up til now, but for the last three days it has coughed and spluttered through start up, with exhaust smoke and then run perfectly for the rest of the day.
Exactly the same symptoms that you wrote.

I would be really interested to know what the issue was, probably something really silly?
