I've got a great Evinrude outboard, and I've been relatively good about fogging it each winter. I've hardly used the boat in the 14 years I've owned it.
The last time I went to the lake, it started up a bit rough and seemed for awhile that it may have been missing--like a spark skip or fouled plug. Then it was fine.
When I trailored it at home I noticed a thin film of oil on the underside of the cowling. It ran down the engine to the fin, then dripped a bit on the concrete. Very small puddle.
Today I pulled the air cleaner off and noticed oil in the bottom of the cleaner. Several drops, and this appears to be the source of the oil that escaped the cowling. I noticed a film of oil at each port of the intake manifold. Not sure how that could be.
Any ideas what's going on here? Did I just run it too rich at the lake? I did use the priming trick when I started it--opening the valve and squeezing the bubble to send gas straight into the carbs.
Thanks for any insight. I don't want to be told I've blown a head gasket or anything like that.
