Hi all,
I have read countless threads regarding oil issues but none has answered my questions. I now do understand much more about how yamaha oil transfer works tho... anyways, my yellow oil light indicator is on and I understand that is either low oil in the remote tank, a break in the wiring from the remote tank to the tach or a bad sensor in the remote tank. Also, I do understand that auto transfer is shut off when this is lit... my motor is p200tlrq

my question is:
After troubleshooting my oil system, while the yellow oil indicator is lit, oil still transfers to the main tank when its low while having ignition on (motor not started). It would fill main tank to the max line and shut off like it suppose to. However, I thought auto transfer was off when yellow indicator is lit? Also, my remote tank is full. Can someone help clarify this and give me some advice?

thanks all

if its transferring oil while ignition is on, it is safe to say it will transfer when motor is running too? I will be testing it out this weekend but was hoping to find out before then.... yes im alittle impatient... more like having a piece of mind...

thanks again guys

Rod has not posted here in a while so maybe someone else will chime in.
Do you have a service and owners manual for your motor?

Have you seen the oil troubleshooting chart that has been posted many times?

Re: oil issue paging rodbolt mastertech

I have seen the chart... however, like all issues, there are some grey areas. I have been using my motor for 4 months and no issue. Last week, my buzzer goes off and found that my oil is not being transferred from remote tank to main tank. After checking and troubleshooting it seems as the issue never existed... i did clean the filter from the remote tank and maybe that was the issue.... I have tested the auto transfer multiple times by emptying the main and triggering the low oil buzzer and auto transfer... as stated it take about 3mins or 180 sec to fill to max... once it reaches the max, it stops as it should. The yellow warning indicator is lit but i believe it was always lit on my tack... after tracing the wiring, i notice that my oil sensor wiring is not wired at all beside the yellow warning that is coming from the remote tank.... the green wires that is for green or red indicator is not wired... (will this cause the yellow indicator to stay on?) How do I test if the indicator is working properly? Can I toggle it off by jumping wires? According to what i foudn on other threads, if i jump the black and red/black wires, it should toggle it from yellow to green but as stated, the green indicator has not been wired...

ok... i jump the green and green red to test out my harness and gauge and everything worked like it should... (jump green with ground and got full tank indicator.... jump green/red, got empty indicator) i now know why my low tank indicator keeps staying lit... LOL... anyways even though only one persone responded to my thread, i just wanted to thanks all and this forum for the useful info....

thanks all
