oil leak

this is a 72 mercury 1150 outboard, I noticed oil is leaking from this hole and I'm not sure where this goes to, also when the motor is tilted up, water is coming out of this hole when the motor/boat goes down and up with the lake motion, noticed this when I was swimming around, my main concern is the oil leaking, any help would be great. thanks, J

Thats a drain hole for the area around the shift shaft so the oil is probably coming from the shift shaft seal

thanks for your help, going to replace that seal asap, and thanks for all your help in the past, motor has been running great, J
