Oil leak?

I have a 1981 HP V4 Evinrude Model #E90MLCIM. There is oil leaking out of the exhaust cover. It runs great but the plugs are a little wet when I pull them after a day on the water. If I mix the fuel (normally 50:1) a little lean it does not do it as much and it also gets better mileage. I don't want to keep doing this in fear that it will lean out and damage a piston but don't know why the excess oil??

Re: Oil leak?

You might need to change plugs. If you do a lot of trolling/slow tubing/ putting around they will load up. It is not running hard enough to burn all the oil. Open her up once in a while and it will burn that off.

Re: Oil leak?

Thanks. I do do a lot of putting around and idling but I have about a 15Min ride back in and I'm always running hard on the way in? But then putting in no wake for a while to the dock. I'll take a look after wot and see what they look like. I don't think it is hurting anything but I don't like that I park it and 10 Min's later I have a line of oil down the motor.
