i bought 1996 harris flot boat with a 3L 135hp mercruiser. it has a oil leak at the top of the intake gasket. It looks like it only has 4 bolts hoding it on. i was wondering if that is all that holds that to the head.

Re: oil leak

Shouldn't be any oil coming from the intake, might look at the valve cover gasket for your leak.

Re: oil leak

i replaced the valve cover gasket first. still was losing oil. i looked again while the motor was running and noticed leaking out of the intake gasket beside the carb.

Re: oil leak

Clean the intake off with a rag. Start engine and watch with a strong flashlight, see if you can trace the origin of the leak....perhaps oil sending switch on back of motor, "running down" ??
