I was wondering if the oil comming out of these 2 holes are from the o-rings fron the upper gearcase, and if it's from the intermediate drivesaft and or water tube? It's a very slow leak, but leaking none the less. I did not pressure test it or remove anything as of now, yet. I know it may be a number of things, but this is what I may check first? The outdrive is from a 1980 omc 230hp 350. If this has been covered in another post, I apologize I'm in a hurry and have limited time today.

Re: Oil leaking from 2 water inlet holes

Hmmm, all I can tell you is water spews from those holes no oil, one hole is the air bleed rube off the impeller and the upper hole I think is the drain for the housing. I have never seen anything but clear water from those holes, I would suspect gear lube from the either shift shaft or intermediate driveshaft seals, the housing cavity between the upper and lower is probably oil soaked. I didn't know Cobra's were in existance in 1980, that is a Cobra isn't it?

I was told the out drive was replaced. Im not sure what it is to be honest. Here are the numbers from the out drive. Model:983488, and serial:J358554. Could I have filledit wrong and forced oil into the housing cavity? There is a bottom, and top oil plug on the lower, and on the upper there is also one on the side and one the top. I filled the lower from the bottom plug and I also put some in on the upper using the side oil plug on the upper. Here is a picture to better describe what im talking about on those oil plugs on the upper.
