ive got my motor running thanks to all,
but now i have a new problem. when the motor is shut down oil leaks from the little water drain hole on the right side next to the oil level fill plug, it also leaks oil from a little water drain hole above the prop. the motor is a 1960 75hp johny.
anybody have any ideas i dont know anything about the bottom end
i was also wondering if anyone knows what weight oil to refill the bottom end with it looks like 90ty is that right it. cold too thick of oil in the bottom end keep the motor from winding out like it should i wonder.

Iz tha stuff leakin' out all black & nasty lookin' or does it look like clean gear lube? If it's black 'n nasty, don' worry about it. It's normal. If that engine is an electric shift, you have to use a special (Type C) outboard gear lube in it. If not, use regular outboard gear lube.

c/6
Hooty

Hey Bill,
It just occurred to me. You obviously removed the bottom drain plug to let the gear lube out but did you remove the top vent plug? If not, that's why it's draining so slow.
You never did say if it wuz electric shift or not. Remember, if it iz, ya gotta use Type C gear lube.

c/6
Hooty
