Hello guys. I have a 2009' Suzuki 4 cycle DF115 with a problem.

The oil light came on Red and now stays red. No blinking and the engine does not go into limp mode. In fact the engine seems to run perfectly.

1. I reset the Oil service/clear code by turning ignition to run position and pressing the cut off switch 3x. I got the beep confirming reset. Did not help

2. I checked the oil level. It was towards the bottom of the low hash mark but not below it on the dipstick. I added oil to fill to the top hash mark. Did not help.

Here is the exact history: I ran the boat 4 hours yesterday and it ran perfectly. We docked for dinner and after re-starting the engine the Oil light came on as I increased engine RPM's. Engine still ran perfectly and did not enter limp mode.

This morning I did the computer reset by turning ignition key to run and pressing the cut-off button 3x. I got the confirmation beep. I checked oil level cold and found it just above the low hash mark on the dipstick. I filled it to the top hash mark.

Following all this tonight we ran the boat flawlessly for 4 hours and then parked again for dinner. I thought the problem was solved. I had no light and no problems. After an hour at the dinner dock I restarted the engine and the red oil light again lit as the RPM's climbed! I could turn it off at first by lowering the RPM's but by the time we got back to the home dock (about 20 minutes) the oil light was solid except for an occasional flicker when I varied RPM.

At no time did the engine operate in any manner except flawlessly. No limp mode. Engine ran at usual RPM without issue. Except for the oil pressure light being lit, you'd think nothing was wrong.

Now if I understand how the engine management system works, if the engine itself detected low oil pressure it would enter limp mode?

I am a little paranoid about this light. Any suggestions to check for an easy fix before I tow it 60 miles to a dealer? I suspect a wire loose rather than an actual mechanical problem such as bad oil pump or sender unit since the engine doesn't enter limp mode? Is this likely or am I just deluding myself? lol Thanks in advance for any help.
