Working on this "new to me" motor. First thing I did was change the lower unit oil, which was fairly milky. Replaced the oil plug seals and put the motor down in the barrel, ran it a while, every few days, and left it sitting in the barrel for a week or so. Noticed "some" oil floating in the barrel, among the other regular yuck that comes out of a two-stroke into the water, nothing too terrible though.

Now I have the motor out of the barrel. I unscrew the fill screw and some milky oil comes out, but no water. So I decide to drain it. About a cup full of milky oil is all that drains out. No water. Where did all my oil go? I put nearly a quart in there. There was barely any oil floating in that water barrel. None leaked out onto the concrete of my driveway. Whats going on here? If I am leaking it out, why was there no water in the lower unit when I drained the oil?

Have the lower unit pressure/vacume tested to see if/where the leak is.

Somewhat of a false alarm. I stuck a piece of wire up there and dislodged some sludge and the rest of the oil drained.

That being said, I still need to pressure test the lower since it shouldn't take on water like it did.
