I am a new owner of a 1961 evinrude 10 hp # 10022. I know the oil mix is supposed to be 24:1. I was researching that 24:1 is used for new engines for break in peroids and that 50:1 is the more common mix that should be used for older motors. Should i stick to the 24:1? or go to the 50:1 mix? Also can anyone reccomend a particular brand of oil that i should use? Thanks for the help!

Re: Oil mix question

You will want to use 24:1 any two cycle outboard oil with TC-W3 printed on the label will work. Modern engine have better bearings and are designed for 50:1 oil.

Re: Oil mix question

Stick with 24:1. Any TC-W3 oil. And for your next question :D regular gas, higher octane is a waste of money.

Oh, and Welcome Aboard!
