I't used to be my fatherinlaws backup. Now it's mine.
I have no idea what it's mix ratio might be. This thing looks older than me.
Anyway. It's a 6 Hp Mercury Twin. SN:1737589

I'm told it might be a 50:1 mix.

Any info in the mix or it's age ?

Bonecaster
bonecaster@bigfoot.com

Re: Oil Mix ratio

That 6 hp engine is a 1964 model.I'm guessing the original mix ratio was 32:1 .Many people run engines of that vintage at 50:1 sucessfully using the more modern TCW3 oils.

Re: Oil Mix ratio

TCW3 is a rating that has went from 1 to 3 over the years that signafies certain additives that pertain to outboard use, suspension and dispersal properties, and required by the manufacturers for use in newer outboards.
If it doesn't have TCW3 somewhere on the bottle, just stay away from it..... :)

Re: Oil Mix ratio

We found the TCW3 on the oil we use. So, we're okay. Thanks for the info.
