OK guys,

I still don't have a clue what year my 20 HP Merc is because the plate is missing. Now I need to know what oil mix I should use. I would assume 50-1 but you know what assume stands for. In this case "screw up your motor".

It is electronic ign. and thats about all I know.

Thanks for any help

Re: oil mix

You sure it's 2 stroke?

If so, I add 16 ozs of 2 stroke oil to 6 gals. of gas and I squirt a healthy 1 oz shot of stabil per that same 6 gals too. If I need more gas I just double everything.

Re: oil mix

heres the canadian conversion

20ml. of oil to 1 litre of gas

i use 25litre fuel cans so i add 500ml. of oil for a 50:1 mix - only some real -real old motors reccomended 32:1 but i'm sure that was superceded after outboards were tested by the public - 50:1 is good rich mix and i do know for sure there was 1 (dare i say it ) "evinrude" motor i used that had a sticker on it for a 100:1 mix . but that was the last one i saw and who knows if that was an error ?
