oil on lower skeg, is this nromal?

changed oil awhile back looked good and clean not milky, motor sat for another 3 months started ran in gear and sat another 2 months, today i noticed that the lower skeg from prop down has lightly coated oil on it and a oil drop was hanging on at the bottom, <br /><br />is this normal ? . <br />is there a was to test the lower unit seals ?<br />is it hard to change seals out ?

Might be normal for your motor. But not usually normal per se'. Just change out the oil after a week or month or so of use.<br /><br />If you decide it still is an issue or just worries you, yes it's a serious mechanical task that might be acomplished with a repair manual, good supply of tools, and a mechanics skills/attitude.

If the oil is black, it may just be unburned fuel mixture from the exhaust. If clear foot oil, I would have to agree this is not normal and may be a leaking seal.

you can also have the lower unit pressure tested to see if it leaks

youre right jack it is really black oil, it is probally from starting it on the muffs...
