oil pan filling with water

I was given a boat that has a 350 gm motor and omc stringer drive. The stringers had roted and crushed toward the transom,so the boot riped and filled the boat with water. I am not sure how high the water level got but there was about two gallons in the motor when we pumped the water oil mixture out of the oil pan. I have no idea how long the motor sat with water in it,but fearing rust in the bottom end i filled the motor with 1 gallon of marvel mystery oil 1 quart of trans fluid. I pulled the plugs out so the motor would turn freely and cranked the motor with the starter until the oil pressure gauge showed some oil movment. I then pumped the oil out again and filled with regular motor oil, put the plugs back in, ran a temperary fuel line in to a gas can, and hit the key one time. Bigger than doo doo she fired right up! I ran the motor for about 3 or 4 seconds and shut it off, so I could get the hose hooked up. With the water running I fired it up again and she ran beautiful! UNTIL it started spitting milky white oilly water out of the pcv hoses going from the valve covers to the carb! pulled the dipstick and it was full of water again!
I am assuming i have a cracked block but was wondering is there any other way that I can get water in the oil? Also the boat is a 1980 wellcraft 19.5 foot cuddy, the heads have been recently rebuilt the exaust is all brand new (was replaced right before the boot ripped),and the foot on the bottom of the out drive is only five years old. Should I part the thing out or put a short block in it?

I almost pee'd when I read that. :D

If she runs that a good sign, water getting in the oil after you had it out is not. But some parts may be able to be reused.

As for parting it out, If you your willing to do the work to fix the boat and motor, then no. Keep it and do it.
It was free so you are starting out with a clean slate. Is the boat worth say, 3000.00 when done? Is it worth that you?

Is the drive in good shape? If no, then while you are redoing the stringers you may want to plug the hole in the transom and look for a doner boat with a Merc or Volvo engine/drive and put that in.

I have time and some know how, not much money so I would do the resto if I though I could. But thats me.

Two for parting out one for maybe! I dont like the stringer drive anyway. I do have a 3.0 mercruiser sitting on an engine stand and all the drive parts that go with it. Do you guys think that hull would be worth trying to plug the hole and refit with the mercruiser? The mercruiser is out of a 85 wellcraft that I was working on rebuilding until this boat came along. the 85 is a open bow but i would rather have the cuddy.
