I was given a boat that has a 350 gm motor and omc stringer drive. The stringers had roted and crushed toward the transom,so the boot riped and filled the boat with water. I am not sure how high the water level got but there was about two gallons in the motor when we pumped the water oil mixture out of the oil pan. I have no idea how long the motor sat with water in it,but fearing rust in the bottom end i filled the motor with 1 gallon of marvel mystery oil 1 quart of trans fluid. I pulled the plugs out so the motor would turn freely and cranked the motor with the starter until the oil pressure gauge showed some oil movment. I then pumped the oil out again and filled with regular motor oil, put the plugs back in, ran a temperary fuel line in to a gas can, and hit the key one time. Bigger than doo doo she fired right up! I ran the motor for about 3 or 4 seconds and shut it off, so I could get the hose hooked up. With the water running I fired it up again and she ran beautiful! UNTIL it started spitting milky white oilly water out of the pcv hoses going from the valve covers to the carb! pulled the dipstick and it was full of water again!
I am assuming i have a cracked block but was wondering is there any other way that I can get water in the oil? Also the boat is a 1980 wellcraft 19.5 foot cuddy, the heads have been recently rebuilt the exaust is all brand new (was replaced right before the boot ripped),and the foot on the bottom of the out drive is only five years old. Should I part the thing out or put a short block in it?
