I just did a reman engine on my 4.3 v6 the sealant was gone but my dipstick tube had a hub or a stop around it where the dipstick goes into the engine block so I just used high temp sealant and gently tapped it in tight, 10 hrs and no leaks, I did think about welding it in.

they are generally just tapped into the block (compression fit). that looks to be clear RTV.
