I have a 2000 Stingray 240 CS, bought it the first week of August. ( I am new to boating) It has a 305 with Fuel injection and a alpha I (I think). I was out last weekend and the exhaust seemed a little louder that usual, almost like a car would sound with a bad muffler. Kicked out a little more exhaust than usual also, to the point where it was coming up into the cockpit. I was under the impression that the exhaust was supposed to come out through the prop, but it seems to be coming out of where the out drive steers left/right. (Forgive me for not knowing the right part name.) Then I noticed a few days later when I took a friend out to try to diagnose the problem that the oil pressure was higher than normal. It was running between 60-80 PSI.
The motor itself sounds fine, oil looks good, end of dipstick and oil cap is not milky, running at a steady 160 degrees. Does anyone have any suggestions before I take it in to get looked at? Also, can someone confirm that the exhaust should come out of the prop vs the top of the leg under the swim platform?
Thanks, John
